Juan Esteban Ramirez is a Program Manager for the Office of Distance Education at Appalachian State University. Juan graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Modern Languages, Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University and Educational Specialist in Higher Education from Appalachian State University.
Juan has served in non-profits, banking and higher education in several capacities: teaching, consulting, program development, and leadership. Juan is currently enrolled in the Department of Educational Leadership at Appalachian State University to pursue a doctoral degree in Educational leadership. In addition to his passion for working with underrepresented students in higher education, Juan cherishes time with his family, traveling, and learning new languages and cultures.
As a leader in his community, Juan is engaged in a variety of leadership opportunities. He served on the executive board of the Conflict Resolution Center in Hickory, Advisory Board for Diversity Affairs at Appalachian State University, founding advisor of the Lenoir-Rhyne Transfer Student Association and currently he holds an executive position on the North Carolina Adult Educators Association Board. Juan research agenda include: adult learners, transfer students, and underrepresented students access, retention and success in post-secondary education.
